How we evaluate credit cards

PickMyCard exists to help Indian consumers pick a credit card without slogging through bank product pages and forum threads. Every card we list goes through the same evaluation pipeline, and every editorial recommendation we publish is anchored to data we can point to. This page documents how that works.

Data sources

Every numeric claim on the site — fees, fee waivers, reward rates, lounge access, eligibility thresholds — is sourced from two places: the issuer's own product page, and the card's Most Important Terms & Conditions (MITC) PDF. When the two disagree, the MITC wins. We do not pull data from aggregator sites, deal forums, or marketing emails.

The provenance gate

Every active card in our database carries two timestamps and a list of source URLs: sourceUrls (the bank pages and MITC PDFs the row was built from), lastUpdated (any time we edit the JSON), and verifiedAt(the date a human re-checked the row against the live issuer pages). A card cannot publish without all three. The "Last verified" date in the eyebrow of every card detail page is the verifiedAttimestamp — not a generic "updated" field.

The editorial review

A subset of cards carries a full editorial review (look for the "Read full review" button on the card detail page). Reviews are written in-house, scored on a 5-star scale across reward value, fee structure, lounge access, and target-audience fit. The verdict and pros/cons are the reviewer's opinion; the underlying spec data comes from the same provenance-gated row the rest of the site uses, so a glowing review and a critical review never disagree on the facts.

Affiliate disclosure

PickMyCard earns a commission when readers apply through the Apply Now buttons on the site. We disclose this on every card page, inline next to the CTA — not buried in a footer. Affiliate revenue does not influence rankings, recommendations, or review scores. Cards we don't earn from are still listed, reviewed, and recommended on merit.

Re-verification cadence

Card terms change. Issuers devalue reward programmes, raise annual fees, or rework lounge access without warning. We re-verify every active card on a rolling cadence and bump the verifiedAttimestamp on each pass. If we catch a material change (a devaluation, a fee hike, a programme withdrawal), the row is updated, any review that references the affected feature is re-evaluated, and the change is noted in the card's recent edits.

Corrections

Found something incorrect? Email hello@pickmycard.in with the card name and a link to the issuer page that shows the right number. Corrections are made the same day and the row's verifiedAt timestamp is bumped on the spot.
