How we define it

Permanently free, or free while an offer holds.

Cards with zero joining fee and zero annual fee, with no spend-based waiver and no promotional offer behind the zero fee.

A paid card whose fees are temporarily waived under an issuer promo (the BOB Eterna pattern) reverts to its structural fee once the promo ends. Cards in this situation appear on this page with an amber label rather than being excluded, so the offer period is visible before applying.

A small number of cards shown here carry fees that are currently waived under a limited-period offer from the issuer. These are marked with an amber label so you can tell them apart. They are worth considering if the offer is live when you apply, but their structural fee will return when the offer ends, so confirm the current terms on the issuer's site before applying.

FAQ

Common questions

01How does PickMyCard define a “lifetime free” credit card?
A lifetime free credit card has zero joining fee and zero annual fee with no conditions and no promotional offer holding either figure at zero. A few cards on this page carry temporarily waived fees, marked with an amber label.
02Are lifetime free cards weaker than paid cards in terms of rewards?
Generally yes, but not always. Most lifetime free cards pay 0.5 to 1 percent flat cashback. A few (Federal Scapia, Kiwi RuPay, Axis Neo) match entry-level paid cards by concentrating value into rewards. The ceiling is lower than premium cards. The floor is higher than a generic mid-tier paid card.
03Will my lifetime free card stay free if the bank revises its fee structure later?
The lifetime free designation applies to the card as issued at acceptance. Issuers can introduce new cards under different fee structures, but cardholders already holding a lifetime free card retain the original terms. A few cards have been transitioned to fee-based versions in the past; in each case, existing holders kept the original terms.
04Why are some popular cards missing from this list?
Three reasons. First, cards with promotional fee waivers (Limited Period offers) are excluded because they revert. Second, cards advertised as “free with conditions” (joining fee waived on first transaction) are excluded because the joining fee is structurally non-zero. Third, cards without an active affiliate relationship are not listed on PickMyCard at all (see affiliate disclosure for the reasoning).
05What does “LTF while offer lasts” mean on some cards?
A few cards carry joining or annual fees that the issuer is currently waiving under a promotional offer. The fee is ₹0 right now, but it will resume when the offer period ends. We mark these with an amber label to distinguish them from cards that are permanently free. Always check the issuer’s current terms before applying.
