We will get to the point: this is not a second Amazon Pay card for shoppers. The Amazon Pay Kotak Business Credit Card, announced by Amazon Pay and Kotak Mahindra Bank in September 2026, is open to registered Amazon Business users and is built for sole proprietors and small firms that buy stock, supplies and equipment through that platform. Amazon says sole proprietors make up 70% of Amazon Business's small-business customers, which explains who the card is for.
The cashback ladder and its cap
The earning structure follows a pattern Amazon Pay customers already know. Prime members earn 5% cashback on eligible Amazon Business purchases and on eligible flight and hotel bookings. Non-Prime members earn 3% on the same spends. Bills and recharges paid through Amazon Pay earn 2%, and all other eligible spends earn 1%.
The difference from the consumer card is a cap. Cashback in the 5% and 3% tier is limited to 5% of the card's monthly credit limit. On a ₹2 lakh limit that is ₹10,000 of cashback a month, which is the cashback on ₹2 lakh of Prime purchases, so a business that uses its full limit on Amazon Business each month still earns the top rate on all of it. The cap bites only when a cardholder repays mid-cycle and spends past the limit within the same month.
Working capital is the real pitch
Two features speak to cash flow more than to rewards. The card offers up to 48 days of interest-free credit, and eligible purchases convert to a three-month No Cost EMI. For a trader who buys inventory at the start of a month and sells through it over six weeks, that is a free bridge between paying the supplier and being paid by the customer.
Amazon Business purchases also carry GST invoices, with input credit of up to 18% on eligible transactions, and that benefit continues alongside the card. The launch adds offers on AWS credits for cloud and AI services, which will matter to a narrow set of buyers.
Fees
There is no joining fee. The annual fee is ₹499 plus taxes, waived on eligible annual spends of ₹3 lakh made outside Amazon. That condition deserves a second read: spends on Amazon do not count toward the waiver. A business that uses the card only for Amazon Business purchases will pay ₹499 plus taxes a year, which 5% cashback recovers within the first ₹12,000 of Prime purchases.
Against the Amazon Pay ICICI card
The Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card is lifetime free and pays Prime members 5% on Amazon.in with no cap. For personal shopping it remains the simpler card. The Kotak card is for a different ledger: purchases made through an Amazon Business account, billed to the business, with an interest-free period and EMI designed around stock cycles. A proprietor can reasonably hold both and keep household and business spends apart, which also makes the books easier at filing time.
How to pick
Sole proprietors already buying through Amazon Business should take the card, because 5% on purchases they make anyway exceeds the fee many times over. Businesses that buy little on Amazon will earn 1% on most spends and should compare it with a general business or cashback card first. Salaried shoppers without an Amazon Business registration are not the audience and lose nothing by staying with the ICICI card.
