Club ITC to Marriott Bonvoy: The Real Rate After the May 2026 Cap Cut

Green Points still convert to Bonvoy at 2:3, but the May 2026 caps halved the annual ceiling to 30,000 Bonvoy. The HDFC route, costed end to end.

Most write-ups of Club ITC's May 2026 revision landed on the same reassuring conclusion: the Marriott Bonvoy conversion ratio survived, so the update was cosmetic. We disagree. A transfer partnership is not priced by its ratio alone. Ratio multiplied by permitted volume is what a member actually collects in a year, and ITC cut the permitted volume in half on 1 May 2026 while leaving the ratio exactly where it was.

Editorial banner: Club ITC Green Points convert to Marriott Bonvoy at 2 to 3, with the annual conversion cap now 20,000 Green Points from 1 May 2026, a maximum of 30,000 Bonvoy points a year.

A rate that held and a ceiling that did not

Club ITC converts Green Points to Marriott Bonvoy at 2:3. Ten thousand Green Points produce 15,000 Bonvoy points, and that arithmetic is untouched by the May revision. What the revision moved is how many Green Points a member is allowed to push through the pipe. From 1 May 2026 the limits are 5,000 Green Points per quarter and 20,000 per year. From mid-2024 until April 2026 they were 10,000 per quarter and 40,000 per year.

Apply the unchanged 2:3 ratio to both sets of numbers and the consequence is plain. A member on the old rules who filled all four quarters converted 40,000 Green Points into 60,000 Bonvoy points. Under the new rules the same disciplined member converts 20,000 Green Points into 30,000 Bonvoy points. Half the output, identical headline rate. Announcements that hold the ratio steady and move the cap tend to read as maintenance, which is precisely why they deserve a second reading.

The first leg, HDFC reward points into Green Points

HDFC Infinia, Diners Club Black, and Regalia Gold transfer into Club ITC Green Points at 2:1. Two HDFC reward points buy one Green Point, and the minimum on that leg is 100 Green Points, which costs 200 HDFC reward points. Both figures sit on ITC Hotels' own HDFC partner page.

Worth naming what the 2:1 does before anything else happens: half of every reward point handed over is consumed at the first hop. Any fair assessment of this route starts from that loss rather than from the more flattering 2:3 on the second leg.

The second leg, Green Points into Bonvoy

Conversion runs at 2:3 in the member's favour, the only step in the chain that multiplies rather than divides. Two Green Points buy three Bonvoy points. Each request must be for at least 2,000 Green Points, so the second leg cannot be used to sweep up small balances. Processing takes one to three weeks, which removes the route from consideration for any booking that needs points in the account this weekend.

Chaining the two legs

Nobody publishes the end-to-end number, so here it is worked through in full. Four HDFC reward points buy two Green Points at 2:1. Two Green Points buy three Bonvoy points at 2:3. Four HDFC reward points therefore buy three Marriott Bonvoy points, an effective rate of 4:3.

Two-leg transfer route diagram: 4 HDFC reward points convert to 2 Club ITC Green Points at 2 to 1, which convert to 3 Marriott Bonvoy points at 2 to 3, an end-to-end rate of 4 to 3, with an annual ceiling of 40,000 HDFC reward points producing 30,000 Bonvoy points.

Everything else follows from that single line. Filling one quarter takes 10,000 HDFC reward points, which become 5,000 Green Points and then 7,500 Bonvoy points. Filling a full year takes 40,000 HDFC reward points, which become 20,000 Green Points and then 30,000 Bonvoy points. The smallest permitted second-leg request, 2,000 Green Points, costs 4,000 HDFC reward points and returns 3,000 Bonvoy points.

Run the same chain against the pre-May caps and the scale of the change needs no commentary: 80,000 HDFC reward points became 40,000 Green Points and 60,000 Bonvoy points. The rate a cardholder earns per point is identical in both periods. What the route will accept in a year is not.

Why HDFC holders end up at ITC at all

HDFC does not carry Marriott Bonvoy as a transfer partner. Among Indian issuers, HSBC is the one that does, which leaves Club ITC as the bridge for everybody else, a bridge with a toll booth at each end and a queue in the middle.

Filing the request

Housekeeping comes before the transfer itself. The Club ITC account needs a verified email address and a verified mobile number, and both have to be current, because the conversion flow depends on them.

With verification done, log in to Club ITC, open My Rewards, select "Conversion to Marriott Bonvoy Points", and initiate the request. Processing then runs one to three weeks. A request filed in the closing days of a quarter still takes that long to land, so anyone pacing against the 5,000-point quarterly limit is better off filing early than at the boundary.

Whether the bridge is worth crossing

Whether 4:3 is a good rate depends entirely on the alternative use of those HDFC points. Measured against a redemption that values a reward point at a fixed rupee figure, the comparison is pure arithmetic and any cardholder can run it in a minute. Measured against hotel value, it becomes a judgement about Bonvoy award pricing at the specific properties in play, which no general guide can settle.

What has genuinely changed is the ceiling. At 30,000 Bonvoy points a year, this route is a supplement rather than a strategy. It will not carry an award stay on its own at most Marriott properties, and it now takes two full calendar years to accumulate what one year used to produce. Anyone who was treating Club ITC as the main path into Bonvoy has to re-plan around a number half the size of last year's.

Cardholders holding HDFC Infinia for its transfer flexibility should look at where else those points go, since ITC is one partner among several and a 4:3 end-to-end rate is not flattering next to any route that avoids a 2:1 first leg. For readers comparing hotel programmes rather than issuers, the Accor side of the market is the more instructive contrast, and our HSBC Accor transfer coverage shows how a 1:1 first leg reshapes the whole calculation.

What to do this month

Members already holding Green Points who want Bonvoy points should file this quarter's request now rather than in its final week, since processing takes one to three weeks and the annual 20,000 is only reachable by using all four quarterly allowances of 5,000.

Members holding HDFC reward points and no Green Points should first satisfy themselves that the destination justifies 4:3, then move only what the quarter can absorb, which is 10,000 HDFC reward points and no more. Green Points parked at ITC waiting for the next quarterly window are points that could have been working somewhere else.

Everyone on this route should confirm the email address and mobile number on the Club ITC account before anything else. That check costs two minutes, and the conversion request cannot be initiated without both in place.
