How much is two minutes of admin worth? About ₹700, going by the mailer that landed on 1 September 2026. Marriott Bonvoy is offering 1,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points for linking a Marriott Bonvoy account to an Emirates Skywards account, in a window running from 1 September to 31 October 2026, and the link is free and permanent once it is made.
The sentence after the offer is the one worth stopping on. It promises that a linked member earns both Marriott Bonvoy points and Emirates Skywards Miles on Emirates flights and on stays at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels. That half is gated by status in both directions, and the gate sits exactly where India's most obvious Bonvoy cardholder is standing.

The Marriott Bonvoy Emirates linking bonus, as emailed
Link a Marriott Bonvoy membership to an Emirates Skywards membership between 1 September and 31 October 2026, and 1,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points follow. That is the whole mechanic.
Linking itself is a standing feature of the partnership, not part of the promotion. It is done at travel-partner.marriott.com/emirates, or through the Emirates contact centre. Both accounts must be active and registered under the same name. Partnership benefits do not start until 48 hours after the link completes, which matters if a flight or a stay is imminent.
A personal note on provenance. This mailer reached my own inbox, personally addressed, and that is the only reason we know the bonus exists at all.
Why we are describing this as a targeted offer
No public terms page exists for the 1,000-point bonus. It is not on Marriott's site, not on Emirates' site, and not on the Your World Rewards partnership pages. Promotions trackers that catalogue this kind of thing do not list it either, which leaves several details a reader would want simply unknowable from the email:
- Whether members who linked their accounts before 1 September 2026 qualify.
- Whether the bonus is once per member for life or once per promotion.
- How long the 1,000 points take to post after linking.
We are not going to guess at any of those. Marriott has not stated them, and inventing a crediting timeline would be worse than admitting the gap.
There is one useful piece of precedent. Marriott ran the same 1,000-point linking bonus in December 2022, restricted to its top elite tiers. Whether the 2026 run carries a similar restriction is unconfirmed. Check your own inbox and Marriott Bonvoy account rather than assuming the points are waiting.
Where the "earn on both" promise stops
Earning both currencies at once is real and documented in Marriott's own partnership terms, but each direction carries a status floor. Skywards Miles on a Marriott stay pay 1 Mile per USD 1 of qualifying charges, and that requires Emirates Skywards Silver, Gold or Platinum. Skywards Blue, the entry tier that every new member holds, earns nothing on hotel stays. Marriott Bonvoy points on an Emirates flight pay 3 points per USD 1 of fare, excluding taxes and carrier-imposed fees, and that requires Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite, Platinum Elite, Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite.
India's flagship Marriott co-brand does not clear its own partner's gate. The HDFC Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card confers Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status, and Silver Elite is not on the Gold-Elite-or-above list. Holding the card, on its own, does not earn Bonvoy points on an Emirates ticket. The American Express Platinum Charge Card does clear it, because it confers Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite outright. Nothing issued in India confers a Skywards tier at all, so the hotel-stay side of the partnership stays shut until a member flies Emirates enough to earn Silver.
Club Marriott is the trap, because the two products share a brand and nothing else. Bundled with cards including HDFC Infinia and HDFC Diners Club Black, it is a paid dining, spa and room-discount programme. It is not Marriott Bonvoy elite status. It confers no tier and does nothing for either side of the Emirates partnership.
Readers who want a Bonvoy balance without the co-brand card have a route that skips status entirely. The HSBC TravelOne Credit Card lists Marriott Bonvoy among its hotel transfer partners at 1:1, so reward points earned anywhere on that card can be pushed into Bonvoy directly.
The rupee value, and the ratio that justifies it
The Points Guy, a third-party valuation and not a Marriott figure, values Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.75 US cents each as of August 2026. At roughly ₹95.5 to the US dollar, 1,000 points work out to about US$7.50, or ₹700 to ₹720. That is a small sum, and it should be described as one.
What makes the offer worth taking is the ratio rather than the amount. Earning 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points through the HDFC Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card at its 8 points per ₹150 hotel rate takes ₹18,750 of spending at a Marriott property. At the card's 4 points per ₹150 rate on travel, dining and entertainment, it takes ₹37,500. Linking two accounts takes about two minutes.
The other Marriott Emirates offer running alongside it
A second promotion is live at the same time, and the two interact. Our earlier write-up covers 5,000 bonus Bonvoy points for one paid Marriott stay, running 15 July to 30 September 2026 with mandatory registration. Its window closes on 30 September 2026, a month before the linking window does, so it is the more urgent of the pair. Linked accounts are also a prerequisite for it, which means anyone chasing the stay bonus has to link anyway.
Doing it in the right order
- Link the two memberships at
travel-partner.marriott.com/emirates, or by calling the Emirates contact centre. Both accounts must be active and in the same name. - Wait 48 hours for partnership benefits to activate before any qualifying flight or stay.
- Register separately for the 5,000-point stay promotion, which closes on 30 September 2026 and does not register automatically.
- Book the stay directly with Marriott, not through an intermediary.
Is it worth it
Nobody should count the ₹700 before it lands. Eligibility is unconfirmed, Marriott has published no terms, and the December 2022 run was restricted. The action still costs nothing and carries no spending requirement, and the accounts stay linked afterwards, which is the durable part.
On the dual earning the email advertises, most Indian readers should expect nothing. A Skywards Blue member earns no Miles on Marriott stays. A Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite member, which includes every HDFC Marriott Bonvoy cardholder without status from elsewhere, earns no Bonvoy points on Emirates flights. What linking does give those members is the conversion route in both directions, which is the benefit they will actually use: Bonvoy converts to Skywards at 3:1 with a 1,000-point minimum and a 5,000-Mile bonus above 60,000 points, and Skywards converts back at 3:2 with a 3,000-Mile minimum.

Frequently asked
How do I link my Marriott Bonvoy and Emirates Skywards accounts?
Link the two memberships at travel-partner.marriott.com/emirates, or call the Emirates contact centre. Both accounts must be active and registered under the same name. Partnership benefits do not begin until 48 hours after the link completes, so allow two days before a qualifying flight or stay.
Does the HDFC Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card earn Bonvoy points on Emirates flights?
No. Earning Marriott Bonvoy points on Emirates flights requires Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status or above. The HDFC Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card confers Silver Elite status, which sits below that threshold. Silver Elite holders still earn Skywards Miles on Emirates flights as normal.
Is the 1,000-point Marriott Bonvoy account linking bonus available to everyone?
Eligibility is unconfirmed. Marriott has published no public terms page for this bonus and no promotions tracker lists it, which points to a targeted mailer. The same linking bonus in December 2022 was restricted to its top elite tiers.
Is Club Marriott the same as Marriott Bonvoy elite status?
No. Club Marriott is a separate paid membership offering dining, spa and room discounts, and it is bundled with cards such as HDFC Infinia and HDFC Diners Club Black. It confers no Marriott Bonvoy tier and does not satisfy the Gold Elite requirement on Emirates flights.
How many Marriott Bonvoy points convert into Emirates Skywards Miles?
Marriott Bonvoy converts to Emirates Skywards at 3 points to 1 Mile, with a 1,000-point minimum. Converting 60,000 points or more in a single transfer adds 5,000 bonus Skywards Miles. The reverse route runs at 3 Miles to 2 Bonvoy points, minimum 3,000 Miles.
